Day 1 : A night in the Sahara Desert from Fes – Atlas
Fes Desert Trips driver, will pick you up from you hotel or Riad at 7 am for the fabulous journey up into the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop will be the delightful town of Ifrane, built by the French in the 1930’s and known as Morocco’s Switzerland because of it’s Alpine chalet-styled architecture and aspect. Then, passing through the Atlas Mountains that are said to hold up the sky, winding your way through forested peaks, twisting mountain streams and gushing springs and passing jagged walls of rock, then, continuing on south, you will pass through Rissani, and then be amazed at the startlingly sudden appearance, as if by magic, of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
These dunes are massive, up to 50 metres in height and extend eastwards all the way into the Algerian Sahara Desert. Day 2 : Share in the Beauty of the Sahara Desert
After breakfast you can choose your own desert trip experience; the delights of a walk through rhaps a refreshing dip in the hotel swimming pool; or maybe you’d prefer the option of a shopping trip to the nearby villages of Merzouga, only fifty kilometers from the Algerian border, which boasts the largest underground natural reservoir in Morocco, and then the tiny Khamlia, called the village of the black people, as it is inhabited by the descendants of slaves taken from The Sudan who will enthrall you with their performances of their much loved, sacred Gnawa music.

After breakfast, the journey to The Todra Gorgebegins with a drive to the main Sahara’s edge town of Rissani, the first capital of the Alaouite dynasty. The voyage carries on through 300 meters deep canyon of the Todgha Gorges cut through the easternmost tip of the High Atlas Mountains, close to the village of Tinghir where you will get the chance to do a spot of relaxed hiking. The Tinghir and Todra Gorges are the highest and narrowest in Morocco and, some would say, the most beautiful. In the morning, after a hearty breakfast Fes Desert Trips will take you first to the delightful Dades Valley, cut deep through banded sandstones and limestones, over an off-road trail past cave dwellings where a few of the world’s last troglodytes still live. Then, it’s on to the beautiful Berber town of Kelaat Mgouna, where, if you arrive in May, will be celebrating the annual Festival of the Roses.
This provides the people of the region the chance to get together and trade many products that they make from roses including the famous rose water that you will be able to try and buy if you wish. After a hearty breakfast, have fun exploring the film sets and studios of Ouarzazate, Africa’s Hollywood, whose astonishing scenery and topography have lured some of the world’s leading film-makers and directors to make use of the landscape. These are the most famous and largest film studios in all of the African continent. Later, you can visit another UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ait Ben haddou kasbah, the largest In Morocco, which is a timeless, ancient village often used as the backdrop to more than twenty Hollywood films including Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones and Gladiator. Take a pleasant stroll to explore to examine the traditional Moroccan architecture that composes the kasbah, now home to the Glaoui family.

Itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga Dunes
After a hearty breakfast, our journey to Merzouga commences, guiding us through the enchanting Middle Atlas region. Passing through Ifrane, often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco, we traverse the cedar forests of Azrou, offering a chance to hand-feed the resident monkeys. Lunch awaits us in Midelt, and then we follow the picturesque Ziz River through the valley, pausing to marvel at the Ziz Gorges en route to Merzouga.
Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
Today's exploration focuses on the mesmerizing Erg Chebbi desert dunes. A circuit of the dunes reveals the nomadic way of life and the ever-changing contrasts of the desert. A visit to the "black village" of Khamlia introduces us to the vibrant sounds of Gnawa music. Enjoy a traditional Berber pizza lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. As the afternoon unfolds, a camel ride brings us to witness the sunset over the dunes, culminating in an evening at a desert camp. Indulge in a traditional tagine dinner, sip on mint tea, and immerse yourself in the magic of Berber music under the Saharan stars.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Todra Gorges
Following breakfast, a camel trek back to the hotel at the dune line precedes our departure from Erg Chebbi. An off-road journey across the hamada leads us to Rissani, with the option to explore the vibrant local market. Moving north, we arrive in Erfoud, known for its fossils, and may visit a fossil workshop. Our route continues to the remarkable Todra canyons, a haven for rock climbing. Explore the canyons before checking into the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate
Embark on a scenic drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing by numerous fortified houses. Traverse the Dades Valley and venture into the mountainous region through an off-road trail, encountering Berber villages and nomads along the way. A visit to a nomadic family offers insight into their daily life and herding activities. Be captivated by the colorful Rose Valley landscapes before reaching the Skoura palm grove. Continue to Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, explore the Taourirt Kasbah before departing for Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the traditional Berber village of Telouet, visiting the Kasbah el Glaoui. Lunch in Telouet precedes the descent through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, leading to Marrakech where our memorable journey concludes.
